Ranchi, Oct 26: Covid testing has become a big challenge for the district administration of Ranchi which was observed during a rough survey at Ranchi railway station, Hatia station and Birsa Munda Airport.

People at all the places are trying to avoid the testing by giving lame excuses and a few running away from the place by jumping over the barricading done at different places.

Today at Ranchi railway station SDM Deepak Dubey appealed to the passengers to support in the testing but apart from a few, all the passengers went out without getting tested.

“At present, we have 100 testing teams which are placed at both the stations and the airport and we are looking forward to increasing 50 more with the extra police force so that the situation is under control,” SDM Deepak said.

Similarly, at Hatia station majority of the passengers went out untested and out of 1210 testing done today 17 were found positive, which went home.

“We are not having that much manpower to test each and everyone and also we are not provided with an appropriate amount of police force to control the crowd,” a covid testing team member said at Hatia station.

At the Birsa Munda Airport, the testing team is checking every passenger but the mobile number verification is not being done.

The magistrate, Gopal Krishna, deployed at the airport said that only the passengers who are not having double doses or RTPCR tests are being tested.

“Mobile verification is not being done here as we do not have the resources as well as manpower to do that,” Gopal said.

DC Chhavi Ranjan on Monday had a virtual meeting of District Covid Task Force in which it was ordered that no passenger will move out untested and covid positive passengers to be taken to covid hospital.
