New Delhi, March 16: Vaccination against Covid-19 is now available to children aged 12 to 14. Beginning on Wednesday, they will be given Covid vaccinations. According to new government rules, children of a certain age range will be injected with Corbevax, a vaccine developed by Biological E. Limited. In this age group, around 7.11 crore children are expected to get vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the co-morbidity clause for delivering precaution doses to persons over the age of 60 has been abolished, and anyone over the age of 60 can now be given a precaution dose.
Previously, only those over 60 years old with comorbidities, frontline employees, and healthcare staff were given the prophylactic dose.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated on Twitter on Monday that the Covid immunisation programme for youngsters aged 12 to 14 will begin on Wednesday, March 16.
“Taking the Covid vaccination campaign forward, under the ‘#SabkoVaccineMuftVaccine’ campaign led by PM Narendra Modi ji, the Covid vaccination of children in the age group of 12-14 has started from today. All people of 60+ age will also be able to get precaution dose from today. Let’s secure the country together, get the vaccine,” Mansukh Mandaviya said.
For this, the Centre also released guidelines of children between 12-14 years.
