Notably, Ashish Mishra is the main suspect in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. On October 3, violence occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri, killing eight people, including four farmers. The incident occurred during a farmers’ demonstration before Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit to Lakhimpur. A car driven by Ashish Mishra allegedly ploughed over the protesting farmers, killing four of them. Four more persons were killed in the ensuing fighting.
On February 10, the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench had granted him bail.
