Ranchi, Sept 22: A Kanke resident Sonu Munda knocked on the door of the Jharkhand High Court on Thursday demanding an expeditious probe into the matter of the death of a patient on the RINPAS campus due to a car hit.

The petitioner through his petition informed the court that though an FIR was registered in this case at Kanke police station in connection with the direction of the chief judicial magistrate, a proper probe is not taking place as the car involved in the case belongs to Dr Jayati Shimalia, who is the present director of the asylum and witnesses of the cases are being pressurized to change their statement under her influence.

The case arose after a female patient of RINPAS died during treatment at RIMS in April this year. The patient was admitted to RIMS after she sustained injuries due to a car hit. The car was being driven by Dr Shimlai, who was not the director at the time of the incident.

Though the female patient died due to a car hit, it was reported by RINPAS nursing staff that the reason behind her death was a fall from a Karanj tree and the matter was suppressed. At that time, Dr Subhash Soren was the director of RINPAS.

The matter remained suppressed till Shimlai became director and Munda having an association with that patient brought the matter to the knowledge of CJM court demanding registration of a criminal case into the matter.
