Dhanbad, Sept 27: Bike-borne criminals looted Rs 7.76 lakh cash from petrol pump employees after spraying chilli powder in their eyes on Sarath- Paljori main road, around 37 km away from Deoghar district headquarters on Monday afternoon.
A senior police official of the district said two employees of Bharat Petroleum Pump Basha were going to deposit cash of Rs 7.76 in the State Bank of India (SBI) Sarath branch when bike-borne criminals intercepted them near the Pump House. Before the petrol pump employees became alert another bike-borne criminal arrived on the spot and sprayed chilli powder in their eyes and fled away with cash containing bag.
Getting information the officer-in-charge of Sarath police station and Sarath Sub Divisional police officer (SDPO) Amod Narayan Singh reached the spot and began a probe into the loot incident. The petrol pump employees informed the police that they could not see face of the criminals as they had covered that with masks.
An eye witness of the incident informed the police that after committing the crime, bike-borne criminals sped away towards Chitra area. SDPO Sarath Amod Narayan Singh told media persons that the police would nab all criminals soon.
