Dhanbad, Aug 2: Bike-borne criminals on Monday afternoon snatched Rs  2 lakh from a retired employee of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) on Dhanbad – Bokaro main road at Godhar under Kendudih police station of coal city.

Kenduadih police station officer-in-charge Binod Oraon said that the victim, Arjun Beldar, was returning to his Godhar-based Beldar Basti in an auto with his wife after withdrawing Rs 2 lakh from Bankmore-based Canara Bank.

As the auto stopped for a passenger at Godhar,  bike-borne criminals came and snatched the bag from Arjun  Beldar’s wife and fled away.

The couple immediately reached the Kenduadih police station and informed the officer-in-charge who, in turn, reached the incident spot. The latter said that all exit points have been sealed and all police stations have been asked to conduct checking of bikes.

“We are searching the numbers of the bike and on the basis of CCTV footage criminals would be arrested soon”, said the officer in charge.
The retired BCCL employee said they had withdrawn money from the bank for the marriage of his son. Criminals had been following him right from  Bankmore based Canara Bank after they withdrew money. Finally, they snatched when the auto stopped at Godhar.
