Dhanbad, Dec 20: The bikes stolen from across the state, are being used in transporting illegal coal from mines in Dhanbad. Barora police of the district claims to have seized the bike stolen from Ranchi township which was being used in transporting illegal coal in Barora coal mines of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) for the last one year. The district transport office is verifying the other seized bikes.
Barora police station officer in-charge Dhiraj Kumar told media persons that police had raided an illegal mining spot in Deco Outsourcing of Barora mines and seized over a dozen bikes engaged in transporting coal. Having seen the police, the coal thieves escaped from the spot leaving their bikes and cycles.
“Engine numbers of all the seized bikes were sent to the district transport office (DTO) for verification. One of them, Hero Honda Splendor Pro, was found in the name of Ranchi Resident Binod Gupta. When we contacted Binod, he informed us that his bike was stolen on October 2, 2020 from near the house and he duly lodged a complaint about it in Sukhdev Nagar police station,” said Dhiraj Kumar, officer in-charge of Barora police station.
Police officers said that identification of the other seized bikes is under progress.
Besides cycles, bikes are being used in large scale in transporting of illegal coal from different mines of Dhanbad.
