Ranchi, Aug.11: CRPF constable Sushant Kumar was martyred today in an encounter between security forces and Maoists in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district.

He had taken a bullet at his chest during the encounter and was airlifted to Medica Hospital in Ranchi, where doctors declared him dead after hospitalisation.

The encounter took place at Tonto Forest after the security personnel cornered Maoist top gun Misir Besra and compelled him to escape from his well-fortified bunker in the forest with his guerillas.

The jawan’s native state is Odisha.

Treatment of another injured CRPF personnel Havildar Munna is going on. He sustained bullet injuries at his leg.
