Jamshedpur, July 17: A CRPF official was injured in an IED blast at a Naxal-infested village under the Goelkera thana area in West Singhbhum on Monday morning.
Identified as Devendra Katkari, the CRPF official fell victim to the blast while he was patrolling through a mud road at Meralgeda village in Goelkera.
Katkari (31) who sustained an injury in the thigh was first taken to Chakradharpur railway hospital and subsequently shifted to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for better treatment.
The sources in the police said the condition of the injured who is posted in the CRPF’s 60 battalion as an assistant sub-inspector is out of danger.
It may be mentioned here that police and paramilitary forces are carrying out a special operation against the CPI-Maoist rebels who have sneaked into dense Kolhan and Porahat forest divisions having planted an unspecified number of IEDs since January this year.
In the operation about 20 paramilitary jawans have been injured so far, several of them seriously in the IED blasts. This apart, about a dozen villagers have also been killed in the blasts.
