Ranchi, Nov 16: The National Lecture Series was organized by the Department of Mass Communication, Central University of Jharkhand on the occasion of National Press Day.
Chief guest of the programme and special speaker Prof. KG Suresh, Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi Journalism University said that setting up of Media Council of India at the national level is the need of the hour by giving a strong role to the Press Council. This is necessary for a self-reliant India.
He said that the peculiarity of the Indian media has been that it has always been introspective of the methodology, which is not visible in other professions.
“In the 21st century India, we have to move forward with creative and solution thinking, in which the role of media is important. He tried to make the students understand through various principles of media that the purpose of journalism is to enable and make every citizen of the last strata of the society aware,” added Prof Suresh.
On this occasion, Prof. Manoj Kumar (Dean, Academics) of CUJ, Prof. Vimal Kishor (Dean, Media School) and Prof. Devvrat Singh, Department of Mass Communication highlighted the role of media in building a self-reliant India. On National Press Day, the programme was conducted by the teacher of the department, Rashmi Verma, while the vote of thanks was done by the coordinator Dr Rajesh Kumar.
On this occasion, teachers, research scholars and students of CUJ, Amity University, Usha Martin University, Vinod Bihari Mahto University participated.
