Hazaribag, April.28: Online shopping turned too expensive for a youth of Hazaribag who was cheated by Cyber frauds, who fraudulently withdrew Rs.53,950 from his bank account. Identified as Kali Prasad Mahto, a resident of Kesada in Tatijharia block, he complained about this matter to Tatijharia police demanding action against fraudsters.

Kaliprasad said that he had purchased a few clothes through online shopping. After not liking the goods, he decided to return them and so searched for the contact number of the company which had supplied the clothes. He got a number and when he dialled it, it connected him to cyber miscreants. They asked him to make a phone pay of Rs 2 on the 8709550021 mobile number. They asked him to download Anydesk app on his mobile phone. As he did this, they took his complete details on the name of KYC. After this, Rs 53,000 was withdrawn from his SBI branch account and Rs 950 from the Union Bank of India account. Kali requested the police to help him in getting back his money.

Tatijharia police station officer-in-charge Jitendra Kumar said cybercriminals are developing new techniques one after another to cheat people. He asked all to not get into their traps. Be alert while doing online shopping, he cautioned them. Also, never click any link, he added.
