Ranchi, Sept 4: CyberPeace in alliance with Missing Link Trust and PVR Ranchi, orchestrated the SOS Forum Ranchi on Monday.

The pivotal talk show was an integral fragment of the nationwide #SOS ‘Stop Online Stalkers’ campaign, aiming to shield children from sinister technological threats, including CSAM and online trafficking.

The occasion was graced by Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth. While addressing the young minds, he expressed, “In today’s age, while the internet is our second home, it is also a minefield if trodden carelessly. The perception that our digital footprints vanish at our behest is a myth.”

Recollecting an unsettling episode of his account being compromised, he underscored the dire need for prudence in online engagements. He earnestly implored the students to tread cautiously online, keep interactions confined to known acquaintances, and seek assistance from trusted adults or dedicated cyber helplines if ever in doubt.

Major Vineet Kumar, the Founder and Global President of CyberPeace, accentuated the shared responsibility in safeguarding our children in this digital epoch. He remarked, “Contemporary challenges like CSAM, Stalkerware, Revenge Pornography, and Cyber Trafficking are rampant. If someone tries to manipulate you using your shared images, remember, you have allies in your parents, guardians, counsellors, and teachers. Always report nefarious activities to www.cybercrime.gov.in.” He then enthused students with a call-to-action, urging them to become CyberPeace ambassadors, disseminating their newfound knowledge among peers and family, advocating for responsible online behaviour.

The #SOS campaign is a multifaceted endeavour, melding online and offline avenues.

Over 150 curious minds from Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School had the opportunity to interact, question, and gain insights into myriad online menaces such as cyberbullying, online grooming, stalkerware, and more.

The event also saw discussions from Dr M P Hasan, Director of the Psychology Department at Ranchi University, and Rajeev Gupta, the curator of TedX Kanke, as they delved into cyber wellness and the essence of safe online interactions.
