Daltonganj, Nov 28: The team of Daltonganj-based excise officials, on a pinpoint tip-off, intercepted a four-wheeler on NH 75 and recovered 850 boxes of the illicit country-made liquor.
Excise superintendent Vimla Lakra confirmed the seizure of 850 boxes of the illicit local brew and of the four-wheeler in which it was being shipped besides the arrest of the driver and apprentice.
The superintendent said the episode is under investigation as to from where this consignment was coming to Daltonganj and from where to be shipped to Bihar by another 2 hours of the road journey.
“The smuggling of illicit wine is done with a new technique in which the vehicle remains the same but its driver and apprentice go on changing after every 100 km or so,” he added.
In this case, too, the vehicle’s driver and apprentice were to be replaced but an alert excise team got hold of them and their consignment.
