Daltonganj, June 18: Notorious criminal Chhotu Rangsaaz alias Wazuddin Rangsaaz, 45, has been remanded in judicial custody today in Daltonganj who was caught on Saturday in Garhwa town by a Palamu police team led by Gautam Kumar, the officer in -charge of the Sadar police station in Daltonganj.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and SDPO Daltonganj Rishabha Garg at his press briefing today said, “We had a very precise tip-off about this criminal coming over to the civil court Garhwa on Saturday. We made our plan and sent a small but dedicated team of police led by Gautam Kumar there to Garhwa.”
Garg said “Our tip-off proved no wrong. This criminal did appear. Our team waited for the right place to nab him and we got him. He tried to hoodwink our officials there first by putting his other name and then disproving his involvement in any crime.”
He further said, “Our team knew this catch was not simple or ordinary. He is every inch shrewd and veteran. He can cook any story. Our police team did no mistake and got him.”
On being asked if the local Garhwa police were informed in advance about this swooping down on this criminal by the Palamu police, Garg said very diplomatically, “Our team did tell Garhwa police when this criminal was already nabbed by our boys.”
Police sources said although no resistance came to the team of the Palamu police nevertheless Chhotu Rangsaaz’s fear, dominance and sway were most evident when police spotted five luxury cars of his men or supporters at a place perhaps doing a kind of recce but Palamu police dodged all of his men by keeping as low as possible but making no compromise with its alertness.
Exactly a year ago on 18.6.2022 a motor parts salesman of Ranchi Anjani Kumar Sinha was gunned down in daylight in Daltonganj. This Chhotu was the prime accused of getting Sinha bumped off by his shooter for a supari of 2 Lakh rupees.
Garg said “This is the nemesis. Last June 18 this man had got a salesman killed in Daltonganj. This June 18 he is in the central jail of Daltonganj. The cycle of fate is now complete for him.”
On being asked as to how this criminal remained at large and continued living in Garhwa for one long year without wearing any disguise or getting caught by the Garhwa police to which Garg said “Criminals and big criminals know this trick of living without wearing any disguise.”
Has this criminal any political blessing or protection or patronage that kept him safe and secure for one year from the police, to which Garg said, “I have no comment on it. All I can say is our boys got him. He is to face the law of the land.”
Sources said following his arrest there was quite a hustle bustle and flurry of activities in the corridors of power politics. Many wanted to be reassured of his arrest. Many had asked just to clear their doubts that Chhotu could be arrested and he was really arrested.
Garg conceded, “Police here too received calls in his regard.” He parried to reply if there were calls from the politicians for this arrested criminal.
Inspector of police cum officer in charge of the town police station Abhay Kumar Sinha present in this press briefing today said police have clinching evidence of Chhotu in cahoots with one Amjad Hussain in Daltonganj who went into a Supari deal with Chhotu for rupees 2 Lakh to kill Anjani Kumar Sinha the salesman of Ranchi who was here in Daltonganj on 18.6.2022 in connection with business and whom Amjad Hussain wanted to eliminate for deterioration of his business on his (Sinha) account.
