Daltonganj, July 25: The Daltonganj railway station officials under the Dhanbad division of the ECR  had a tough time managing the placing of the 08635 Up Ranchi-Sasaram Intercity Express train at track number two, which is a non-platform track, on Monday night.

The situation arose because of the ongoing NI (non-inter) locking work, as a result, there was no option left for the railway officials here except to place this train on track number two.

The Daltonganj railway officials did it quite well. First, it kept announcing repeatedly on its public address system advising passengers not to hurry or panic at all and to board or get off the coach of the train without any haste.

Again, as against the two-minute halt of this train here at the Daltonganj railway station, the railway officials held this train for a little over 10 minutes more ensuring each and every passenger either getting down from it or getting into it remained safe and with less of inconvenience.

Further, all passage of the trains on tracks numbers one and three were withheld at the Home signals for the entire duration of the Ranchi-Sasaram Intercity Express train remaining on track number two.

A fleet of officers, including the railway station superintendent, railway traffic inspector, inspector of the RPF and personnel remained in full alert mode monitoring the boarding or de-boarding of the passengers of this train.

Railway traffic inspector at Daltonganj railway station A K Tiwary said, “There is no human error and fault. Such a situation arises where there is NI locking work done. It’s the issue of the Point. And Point takes time to settle with accuracy.”

The Daltonganj railway officials conceded there were inconveniences definitely to the passengers of this train but their safety and ease were equally well taken care of.

Incidentally, on the same track number two, a non-platform track, there came Jharkhand Swarn-Jayanti express train for Anand Vihar, Garib Rath for Delhi, Ranchi-Chopan express train, couple of shuttle trains but no passenger of any of these trains had any complaint except this Ranchi-Sasaram Intercity Express train as some of the passengers of this train stormed into the panel room here and vented their ire to their full voice and speed.

RPF Inspector Banarasi Yadav said the RPF contingent was closely monitoring the situation at the Daltonganj railway station at the time of every ‘coaching train’ placed on track number two.

Yadav said in a separate incident the railways had to lodge a criminal case under sections 137,145 and 146 of the Indian Railway Act against a revenue official of Pandu who was without a platform ticket and when asked to pay the fine for not having the platform ticket, flew into a rage and began to act with the railway officials on duty improperly and indecently.

RPF Inspector Yadav further said this revenue official of Pandu had come to the railway station last night to see off his son and during the magistrate checking this revenue official was found without a platform ticket.
