Daltonganj, Dec.13: At least 60 to 70 grams of gold contents were neither identified nor claimed by any of the seven victims of locker theft in the two-day identification parade of gold and gold contents held in the town police station in presence of the magistrate, according to SP Palamu, Chandan Kumar Sinha.
The SP said that the seven victims did not identify or claim this gold and hence, it will be safely preserved as this case is not yet closed.
The Officer in charge of the town police station, A K Mahatha, said: “We were retrieving gold and on one occasion we made a seizure. It appears that this unidentified gold could be that.”
Seven lockers were pilfered and gold and gold contents were stolen from it in the United Bank of India, Daltonganj a few months ago. After the investigation, the Chief Manager, deputy manager, and 13 others were caught and jailed.
At the crime meeting review held today, two officers; A K Mahatha and Nakul were highly appreciated by the SP for successfully solving the case. A few other police officers were also given good service marks in the meeting.
Police are now on the hot trail of one accused named Rishu. He is suspected to be a hot recipient of stolen gold from the lockers of UBI.
