Ramgarh, Dec 22: Mathematics Week was organised from December 19 to December 22 at DAV Public School in Barkakana.
Here, the students were informed were told about various mathematicians in India. Every one of the days of the week, a speech on the mathematicians was delivered and a quiz competition held.
On Monday, the students were informed about Dr Vashishtha Narayan Singh and his achievements while on Tuesday, children were informed about Shakuntala Devi, who is said to be able to calculate faster than a computer.
Wednesday saw the children being informed about Aryabhatta, the mathematician who invented zero, while on Thursday the children were informed about the achievements of Srinivasa Ramanujam.
A Mathematics Relay Race was also organised in this series, wherein children from class III to V participated. Later, an essay competition was organised for the junior class children which saw participation from students of classes IX and XI.
Vashishtha House was the winner while Drona House was the runner-up in the relay race. Meanwhile, Farhan Hussain of Class XI Science got the first position, while Mayank Dubey and Neha Kumari of Class IX bagged second and third position respectively in the essay competition.
