New Delhi: Investigators have found that over 2 kg of ammonium nitrate mixed with petroleum was used to create the explosive that tore through the area near Red Fort on November 10, killing 13 people. Forensic findings suggest the bomb was prepared within minutes by the accused driver, Umar Nabi, moments before detonation.

Forensic Findings Reveal Quick Bomb Assembly

More than 52 samples analysed so far show that ammonium nitrate, petroleum and a detonating agent were used in the device. Officials say such an explosive mixture can be prepared in just 5 to 10 minutes. Investigators are probing whether Umar assembled the bomb in a nearby parking lot, where the car remained for over three hours.

Panic After Arrests Led To Change In Blast Location

Umar, a Kashmiri doctor linked to Al Falah University in Faridabad, had initially planned to detonate the bomb inside the Red Fort parking area. However, he panicked after learning about the arrest of his aides and the huge seizure of explosives in Faridabad. He also reportedly overlooked that the Red Fort is closed on Mondays, found no crowd at the site, and eventually triggered the blast at a busy traffic signal on Netaji Subhash Marg.

Terror Module Linked To Pak-Based Groups

The blast occurred just hours after J&K Police claimed to have dismantled a major “white-collar” terror module connected to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The arrests of Umar’s associates—doctors Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie and Shaheen Saeed—had led to the recovery of nearly 2,900 kg of explosive material, weapons and chemicals across Faridabad and Jammu & Kashmir.
