Dhanbad, May 30: The Police have filed an FIR of culpable homicide in Ramkanali OP against the rail administration, Rail Vikash Nigam Limited (RVNL) and the contractor for the tragedy that occurred between Tetulmari- Nichitpur station in which six labours were electrocuted while erecting an electric pole on the side of rail track on Monday morning.
Ramkanali OP officer in -charge VK Chetan giving this information today said that an FIR of culpable homicide has been lodged on the statement of sub-Inspector (SI) Amit Kumar against the concerned railway officers, site in-charge of the contractor and site supervisor for the incident.
Dhanbad Rail Division manager (DRM) Kamal Kishore Sinha admitted that the negligence triggered the tragedy. The contractor had not been informed about the erection of the pole. “ Prima facie, it looks negligence, as before starting ab electric work power block should have been done but that was not followed. Probe has been started. Only after getting a report we would take action”, said the DRM.
Six labours of a contractor were electrocuted while erecting a pole on the side of a down line of the Dhanbad- Gomoh rail section at Jharkhor village between Tetulmari and Nichitpur stations under Dhanbad Rail Division at 11.36 am yesterday.
The pole in the course of erecting fell on the 25000-volt high-tension overhead wire of the railway track. Six labours holding the pole burnt from the current on the spot.
Railway division official sources said that the DRM, who reached the tragic spot immediately, set up five members probe committee which in its initial report disclosed that work was being done without a power block and the supervisor was not on the spot.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Congress Committee senior vice-president and State Disciplinary Committee chairman Brajendra Prasad Singh has demanded a judicial probe from the government.
Expressing shock over the incident Singh has said that it was negligence on the part of the rail administration which cost the life of six poor labours. “ It was unfortunate that at the time of the incident, no railway or contractor official was present. The guilty persons must be booked so that in the near future such incident does not occur”, he said.
