New Delhi, Nov 25: Two e-mails threatening to kill Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and former Cricketer Gautam Gambhir were sent from Pakistan, Delhi police sources said on Thursday.

According to the police sources, the mails were sent by a Pakistan-based individual, identified as one Shahid Hamid. The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) team of Delhi Police has already tracked the IP address of the individual and a probe is underway.

Notably, the BJP MP had received two death threats via e-mails within 24 hours. The threats mentioned that it was sent by the Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir.

Following the threats, security has been beefed up outside Gambhir’s residence. The senior officials of Delhi Police have also informed that Gambhir’s complaint was marked to the Cyber Cell of the Special Cell to know the source of the mail.

Further investigation is underway.
