Lagatar24 Desk : The flood situation in Assam further worsened and more than 6 lakh people have been affected in 22 districts, Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) officials said. Two more people were drowned in Majuli and Barpeta districts, taking the death toll to five.

The flood situation in Nalbari continues to remain critical, where at least 1,10,731 people have been affected. The data states that around 39,500 hectares of crops have been damaged and around 1,300 villages have been affected. The district authorities have put up 85 relief camps in 10 districts to provide shelter to the flood-affected people.

Meanwhile, heavy rains hit the national capital for the second consecutive day in a row, causing partially waterlogged streets near AIIMS Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms with moderate to heavy intensity rain would continue over many parts of Delhi and adjoining areas during the next 2 hours.

On Wednesday, Delhi recorded 112.1mm rainfall in 24 hours, the highest single-day precipitation in September in 19 years, reported news agency PTI. Heavy showers since early morning caused water logging in various parts of the city, causing inconvenience to the commuters. The Safdarjung Observatory, the official marker for the city, gauged 112.1mm rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8.30 AM yesterday.
