Dhanbad, Oct 7: After five years, the Indian National Trade Union Cong (INTUC), the frontal miners’ organization of the Congress, will get representation in policy-making at all meetings of Coal India Limited (CIL) soon.
Rashtriya Khan Mazdoor Federation (RKMF) vice-president AK Jha said that the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has cancelled the order of keeping INTUC out from the Joint Bipartite Committee for the Coal Industry (JBCCI) and other policy-making committees of CIL.
“The court ruling has made it clear that INTUC has been kept out of the policy-making meetings of CIL under a political conspiracy. Now it is up to CIL management and the ministry of coal to give due representation to INTUC at miners-related policy meetings,” said AK Jha.
INTUC has been debarred from JBCCI and other meetings of CIL after 2017 due to a factional feud in the organization and pending cases in different courts of the country. INTUC was not invited to the recently held bonus meeting of coal employees and NCW-11 talk while BMS, HMS, CITU and AITUC representatives attended.
“Till 2017 when RKMF (INTUC) was debarred from JBCCI, it had the highest miners membership of 68,000 in CIL and the highest representation at the meeting. Even today, INTUC has around 50,000 members including BCCL, CCL, and ECL in CIL but under political conspiracy, it has been denied the right to raise genuine demands of the miners at the proper platform,” A K Jha said.
The RKMF vice-president went on to say that after the court’s ruling, wisdom will prevail on the CIL management as well as the coal minister to include INTUC in JBCCI.
Last time in 2017, three members of RKMF (INTUC) comprising INTUC general secretary cum Federation president, Rajendra Prasad Singh (former minister and the then Bermo MLA), RCMS general secretary AK Jha and S Q Jama had attended the bonus meeting of CIL.
