“I am humbled to begin my visit to India by honoring fallen troops and learning about the legacy of this nation at the National War Memorial. This is a symbolic tribute as we prepare to mark 30 years of flourishing relations and defense ties between our countries,” Benny Gantz tweeted.
Israeli Minister Gantz came in India yesterday, marking three decades of diplomatic ties between the two countries. The visit was supposed to happen in March, but it was postponed.
Earlier in March, during a phone discussion with Rajnath Singh, Israel’s Defense Minister informed him that his planned visit to India from March 30-31 had been postponed owing to unavoidable circumstances.
According to Israeli local media, the March summit was to feature discussions on boosting India-Israel security relations. In recent years, Tel Aviv has attempted to strengthen defence connections with New Delhi, particularly in the fields of air and missile defence, according to the article.
India and Israel will celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations in 2022. From October 17 to 21, 2021, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar undertook an official visit to Israel. During the visit, Israel signed the International Solar Alliance’s ratification instrument.
On the fringes of the COP26 Climate Summit in Glasgow on November 2, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
On October 26-27, 2021, the annual India-Israel Joint Working Group (JWG) on Defense was convened in Israel.
