New Delhi, April 25: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against former deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia and four other individuals in the case involving the Delhi excise policy.

An additional chargesheet has reportedly been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating).

An official revealed that the supplementary chargesheet in the Delhi excise policy case has been filed against former deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia, Amandeep Singh Dhall, Arjun Pandey, and Butchi Babu Gorantla.

According to the CBI’s initial chargesheet in the case, between July and September 2021, financial payments totalling between Rs 20 and Rs 30 crore were allegedly organised by suspect Abhishek Boinpally at South Group’s request and made to Vijay Nair via Dinesh Arora. Additionally, claims have been made that after irregularities were initially identified, Sisodia personally intervened to have Mahendru-promoted Indo Spirit’s application processed.

Arava Gopi Krishna, a former Excise Commissioner, is also included as a suspect in column 12 of the chargesheet.

The court noted that two of the four accused, Manish Sisodia and Amandeep Dhall, are currently being held in judicial custody.

On March 6, 2023, Butchibabu was granted bail in the case.

According to the court, the prosecuting agency never made an arrest of Arjun Pandey in this instance.
