New Delhi: The Rekha government in Delhi has approved the Mahila Samman Yojana, which will provide ₹2,500 per month to eligible women. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting at the Delhi Secretariat on Saturday. Reports suggest that the scheme may be officially announced at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with BJP President JP Naddalikely to attend the event.

Only BPL Card Holders Eligible Initially

The Mahila Samman Yojana will initially benefit women holding Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards. However, women already receiving benefits from other government schemes will not be eligible for this financial assistance.

Eligibility Criteria for the Scheme

• Age Limit: Women aged 21 to 60 years can apply.

• Residency Requirement: Applicants must have been residents of Delhi for at least five years.

• Income Criteria:

• Annual income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.

• For income below ₹1 lakh, a National Food Security Card is mandatory.

• For income up to ₹3 lakh, an income certificate from the area SDM or Revenue Department is required.

• Aadhaar Linkage: Applicants must possess a valid Aadhaar number and have a single bank account linked with Aadhaar in Delhi.

• Online Registration: The application process will be conducted online, ensuring transparency and ease of access.

This initiative aims to financially support economically weaker women and enhance their financial independence. Further details regarding the scheme’s implementation are expected soon.
