New Delhi, Nov 7: The Central Bureau of Investigation has stated that Manish Sisodia’s aide will testify on behalf of the government in the case involving the Delhi liquor policy.
A Delhi court last week granted bail to businessman Dinesh Arora, the aide of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and the CBI did not object.
The CBI petitioned a local court today, stating that Arora will testify for them in the case against Sisodia. According to the CBI, the businessman helped with the investigation and provided important information.
AAP leader faces a setback as the party campaigns for the assembly election in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Arora, who is also an accused party in the case, becomes a government witness.
A new policy regarding the sale of alcohol in the nation’s capital had been announced by the Delhi administration. The CBI was instructed to investigate after the Lieutenant Governor raised a red flag over possible corruption.
The new policy was scrapped and the previous one reinstated by the Arvind Kejriwal administration. The interference of the Lieutenant Governor, which took place before the new strategy could begin to produce results, according to the Delhi Chief Minister, cost the AAP administration thousands of crores in valuable tax money.
