Earlier on Friday, a city court extended the ED custody of the senior AAP leader till March 22, saying physical custody of the accused appears to be necessary for his further effective interrogation.
The case pertains to the alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy of GNCTD.
Special Judge MK Nagpal on Monday extended Sisodia’s Judicial custody till April 3, 2023. The bail petition in the matter is listed for arguments on March 21, 2023.
Former Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia in his bail petition in a trial court stated that no fruitful purpose would be served to keep him in custody as all the recoveries have already been made.
He also stated that he has joined the investigation as and when called for by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The other accused persons arrested in this case have already been granted bail. Sisodia further stated that he holds the important constitutional post of Deputy CM of Delhi and has deep roots in the society.
Notably, Manish Sisodia was arrested in a money laundering case related to the excise policy by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 after being interrogated for nearly eight hours. The ED arrested him on March 9 in the Tihar Jail, where he was lodged in connection with the CBI case linked to alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.
