New Delhi, March 4: A Delhi court is likely to hear the bail application of Delhi’s former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, arrested in a corruption case related to the Delhi liquor scam today. On Friday, Sisodia made a bail motion in front of a local special court. Special Judge MK Nagpal sentenced him to five days in CBI custody on February 27.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained Manish Sisodia over a week ago in relation to the alleged corruption in the creation and implementation of the now-cancelled spirits strategy for 2021–2022.
Although the Supreme Court declined to consider Sisodia’s bail application on the grounds that it occurred in Delhi, Sisodia’s solicitor filed the most current argument at Delhi Rouse Avenue Court.
The Supreme Court’s bench, made up of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha, ruled that a person cannot approach the Supreme Court directly because the trial court in question and the Delhi High Court both provide avenues for redress.
