Delhi MCD polls: BJP, AAP win 2 seats each, counting of votes continues

Congress leading on 12, Independent 4, BSP and NCP on 1 each

New Delhi, Dec 7: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress are vying for office in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election, which began counting votes at 8 am today. BJP and AAP win 2 seats each and lead on 112 seats each, as the counting of votes continues. Congress leading on 12, Independent 4, BSP and NCP on 1 each.

On December 4, the national capital’s 250 wards went to the polls. There are 1,349 candidates running for office, and the turnout was roughly 50%.

The Kejriwal-led party has been very optimistic since exit polls indicated that AAP is poised for a significant victory in the polls. “I wish to congratulate Delhi’s citizens. 42 counting centres have been put up by the electoral commission throughout the city to conduct the vote-counting process. 136 engineers from the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) and election observers have been sent.
