New Delhi, Oct 3: The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said that on Tuesday afternoon, strong earthquake tremors were detected in a number of northern Indian states, including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
The first earthquake had a magnitude of 4.6 and the second had a magnitude of 6.2. These two earthquake shakes happened within a time period of around 30 minutes. According to the NCS, Nepal is where the earthquake originated.
The first earthquake, which struck Nepal at 2:25 pm had a Richter scale value of 4.6. The second happened at 2:51 PM and registered a magnitude of 6.2.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.6, Occurred on 03-10-2023, 14:25:52 IST, Lat: 29.37 & Long: 81.22, Depth: 10 km, Location: Nepal,” National Centre for Seismology said in a tweet.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 6.2, Occurred on 03-10-2023, 14:51:04 IST, Lat: 29.39 & Long: 81.23, Depth: 5 km, Location: Nepal,” it said in another tweet.

The severe earthquake tremors, which lasted for more than a minute, caused many residents in north India, including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, and Haryana, to rush out of their buildings.
