New Delhi: A tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of Delhi Police constable Sandeep in the Nangloi area of Delhi early on Sunday morning. The constable, who was deployed at Nangloi Police Station, was struck by a speeding WagonR while on duty investigating a recent spike in robbery cases in the area.

Sandeep, who was in plain clothes and on his bike, tried to flag down the WagonR after noticing the vehicle being driven recklessly. However, instead of slowing down, the car sped up and hit Sandeep from behind, dragging him for about 10 meters before crashing into another parked vehicle.
Sandeep was rushed to Sonia Hospital and later transferred to Balaji Hospital in Paschim Vihar, but despite the medical team’s efforts, he succumbed to his severe injuries.
Investigation Underway
DCP Jimmy Chiram addressed the media, stating that the police have launched an investigation and formed special teams to track down the two accused, who fled the scene immediately after the accident. “The accused have been identified, and the car has been recovered,” said Chiram. He also indicated that the case appears to be one of road rage, but the investigation is still ongoing.
