New Delhi, Sept 16: Mohammed Zubair, the co-founder of Alt News, asked the Delhi High Court on Friday to quash cases against him, but Delhi Police responded with an affidavit in opposition. Zubair requested the return of his confiscated laptop and mobile device, but the police refused.

The Forensic Science Laboratory in Rohini, Delhi, has already received the electronic devices that were taken from Zubair. In relation to his 2018 tweet, for which he was the subject of seven FIRs, the data recovered from these devices will be examined.

The police are also looking into additional tweets that resemble the one from 2018 in content.

On July 20, Zubair left Tihar jail after spending 24 days inside after the Supreme Court granted him temporary bail in all of the cases brought against him. All FIRs against Zubair were to be moved to the Delhi Police Special Cell, which is looking into the matter involving the offensive tweet from last year, under a directive from the supreme court.
