New Delhi, June 7: Delhi Police has provided security to the suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and her family after a FIR was filed on a complaint that she was receiving death threats because of her controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad. She had asked the police to provide security since she had been harassed and threatened.
“Sharma and her family have been provided police security after she alleged that she has been receiving threats and was being harassed over her remarks,” an official said.
As the issue over their alleged offensive remarks about Prophet Mohammad grew with complaints from certain Muslim countries, the BJP suspended Sharma and fired its Delhi unit media leader Naveen Kumar Jindal on Sunday.
In the wake of Muslim protests and harsh retaliation from nations such as Kuwait, Qatar, and Iran, the BJP issued a statement declaring that it respects all religions and vehemently condemns insults to religious figures.
