Delhi school teacher detained for hitting, throwing student from first floor

New Delhi, Dec 16: A student of class 5 at MCD school in Delhi was allegedly hit with scissors by a teacher and was then pushed from the first of the school building.

A huge crowd gathered at the school after the incident took place at the Prathmik Vidyalaya in central Delhi’s Model Basti area.

“At around 11:15 am, police officers of PS DBG road received information that a student was thrown from the first floor by a teacher,” officials said.

The Station House Officer and police officials took immediate action, reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

The injured student is undergoing treatment at the Hindu Rao hospital and doctors have stated that she is out of danger. The accused, identified as Geeta Deshwal, has been detained.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shweta Chauhan said, “A case of attempt to murder under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) is filed on the statement of the eyewitness. The student is admitted to Hindu Rao hospital and all the necessary tests including a CT scan have been done. The child’s condition is stable and is responding well. The MCD has suspended the teacher taking immediate action. Further investigation is being conducted by the department”.
