Dhanbad, Dec 28: Deoghar and Bokaro districts became the new champions of men’s and women’s category respectively in the Jharkhand state inter-district 15th senior Kabaddi championship 2020- 21.
The men’s final event was played at Sindri Welfare Centre on Monday evening where Deoghar defeated Vinoba Bhave Kabaddi Association (Hazaribagh) by 22-17. In the women’s final event, Bokaro trounced Garhwa with 36-20 in a one-sided affair.
Deoghar and Bokaro, both the champion teams, dominated the proceeding in the final against their respective rivals right from the start of the play and won it in fashion. Especially, Bokaro women’s team took the lead from the initial stage and maintained it till last.
Earlier in the semi-final, Deoghar beat Koderma by 54-22 while in the second semi-final, Hazaribagh defeated East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur) by 12-06 to book the place in the final.
In the women’s semi-final, the Bokaro girls beat East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur) by 37-22 while in the second semifinal; Garhwa beat Deoghar women’s team by 35-15 to assure the final berth.
SMP Inter College President Arun Kumar Singh was the chief guest in the final ceremony in the evening. He gave away the champion’s trophy to Deoghar and Bokaro teams. Dharmjit Singh presented the runners-up trophy to Hazaribagh and Garhwa districts.
The organizers said that Jharkhand men’s and women’s teams will be selected for the national championship on the basis of players’ performance in this inter-district championship.
