Deoghar, Jan 29: An FIR has been lodged in the Jasidih police station against former Mukhiya Amar Nath of Kenman Kathi under Deoghar Block after a video of him indecently touching a Saraswati idol on January 27 went viral on social media.
A written complaint has been submitted by Asish Das, husband of sitting Mukhiya in Jasidih police station describing the incident.
Notably, the Saraswati Pooja celebration was held in Das tola in the old building meant for public use. According to locals, the accused came with some of his supporters to Pooja Pandal and despite being driven out by the volunteers of the Pooja Samiti, he started to touch the idol. Meanwhile, some volunteers succeeded in capturing the actions. Angered locals also set an effigy of the accused on fire. After the incident situation in the area is grim but under control.
Meanwhile, getting the information of the incident, local police station in-charge Vikram Pratap Singh and BDO Jitendra Yadav took action.
Talking to a Lagatar correspondent, the police station in charge Singh has confirmed that all accused are fugitives, and no arrest has been made so far.
On the other hand, the Deoghar DC in a tweet has instructed officials to take action against the accused.
