Deoghar, May 2: A half-burnt body of a young boy was recovered lying on the ground in Hatia Bazar Jasidih under the Jasidih police station area.
The Jasidih police reached the spot soon after getting the information. The deceased was identified as Arnab Barnwal, son of Dinesh Prasad Barnwal who is posted at Barmsia, Godda and works in SBI as a manager.
Arnab’s body was found near his under-construction house. He and his family had been residing in a rented house near Chakai More, just half a kilometre away from the incident spot.
Initially, it was a challenge for the police to even identify the body as Arnab’s father kept mum. When the police entered the newly constructed house, they found a woman crying there and she identified Arnab as her youngest son.
A team of the fire brigade was also called. Both police and fire brigade teams investigated the spot and found a smell of kerosene and matchbox from the roof.
After further investigation, police speculated that Arnab may have jumped from the roof after setting himself on fire.
Jasidih police were also accompanied by Deoghar Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Jaat and SDPO Pawan Kumar.
Talking to the media, the victim’s father Dinesh Prasad Barnwal admitted that his mental status of Arnab had not been sound for a few months. “So we were not allowing him to go back to Ranchi for studies,” he said.
The SP told the media that prima facie, the case appears to be of suicide. But the police will say something only after a thorough investigation.
