Deoghar, Sept 13: A furniture seller was robbed at gunpoint in the wee hours of Tuesday at Main Chowk under Sarath police station.
The victim, Sachidanand Jha, a resident of Sarath, claimed that at around 2 am, he heard some disturbance outside the gate and went to investigate when all of a sudden, he was held captive by the goons at gunpoint.

Three miscreants had entered, and two of them were holding revolvers. They approached the trader and pointed the gun at his chest while threatening him not to scream or call anyone since doing so would have horrible consequences.
When they questioned him about the money, Sachidanand pointed to the almirah where it was kept. The miscreants damaged the almirah and stole about Rs 95,000. They also took two rings off the trader’s fingers along with two cell phones. They also stole Rs. 5,000 which was in a different box.

Before committing the crime, the goons covered the CCTV camera with plastic and took the DBR equipment with them afterwards.
After learning about the incident, Shailesh Kumar, the officer in charge of Sarath police station, led a team of local police to the scene and took account of the robbery.
