New Delhi, July 6: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued show-cause notices to SpiceJet on Wednesday in connection with the degradation of the safety margins of its aircraft.
Notably, three SpiceJet planes had to make an emergency landing yesterday due to technical issues. Its freighter plane, which was in route to Chongqing, China, turned around and flew back to Kolkata on Tuesday after the pilots discovered that the weather radar was malfunctioning.
The airline’s Delhi-Dubai flight was diverted to Karachi on Tuesday due to a broken fuel gauge, while its Kandla-Mumbai flight made a priority landing in the capital of Maharashtra when cracks appeared in its windshield mid-flight.
In the past 18 days, SpiceJet planes have had at least eight technical malfunctions.
