Dhanbad: 19, 529 disputes settled, over Rs 81 Cr recovered in National Lok Adalat

Dhanbad, May 14: A total of 19,529 disputes were settled and over Rs 81.23 crores were recovered during the National Lok Adalat held in Dhanbad district Court premises today on Saturday morning.

Principal District and session judge cum District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) chairman Ram Sharma, while inaugurating the National Lok Adalat, said that it is a step to fulfil the dream of the constitution which gives a guarantee of social, economic, cheap and easy justice to people.

“Lok Adalat saves people from harassment of making rounds of court for months and misuse of money in a legal battle.” Moreover, disputes are settled in the Lok Adalat in an amicable environment and end the ill-feeling among people, which is the main motive of the constitution,” said the DLSA chairman.

He further said that in Lok Adalat, both parties return victorious and no one tastes defeat as the dispute is settled after their consent.

District judge cum DLSA secretary Nita Sabla said that the DLSA chairman had set up 17 benches for today in which different disputes were settled. She said that till 10 am, 19,529 disputes were settled and Rs. 81,23,41, and 251 were recovered through settlement.

On the occasion, Dhanbad Bar Association president Amrendra Sahay said that the objective of Lok Adalat is that litigants do not face hardship in getting justice and get the solution at a point without any expenditure.

“Besides saving time, litigants are also getting rid of unnecessary legal tangles in Lok Adalat and getting justice,” said the Bar president.

Jitendra Kumar, Bar secretary, said that Lok Adalat is a stage where the dispute is settled on the spot and people get reprieved. He said that the Bar Association would extend full cooperation in it.

The principal judges of family court Taufiqul Hassan, additional principal judge of family court Premlata Tripathi, district and session judges Ramesh Kumar Srivastava, Rajkumar Mishra, labour judge Neeraj Kumar Srivastava, chief judicial magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh, additional chief judicial magistrate Kuldeep, Rajiv Tripathi, Vishal Majhi, Arti Mala, Shivam Chourasia, Anjlina John, and Sweta Kumar (all chief judicial magistrates) were present on the occasion.
