Dhanbad, June 10: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Dhanbad wing today arrested Govindpur Circle Office (CO) head assistant Parmanand Prasad while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a farmer for issuing a land revenue receipt.
ACB team under DSP Nitin Khandelwal reached the Govindpur Circle Office at around 12.14 pm as per plan and caught the head assistant in the office red-handed while accepting the bribe from farmer Sanatan Hembram.
ACB team immediately brought him to the Dhanbad office and began interrogation. ACB recovered Rs 45,000 cash from the office of Parmanand Prasad and Rs 4.10 lakh from his house in a search operation after arresting.
Parmanand Prasad had demanded Rs 2.80 lakh from Sanatan Hembram, resident of Domandih village of Gortopa Panchayat for issuing a land revenue receipt of 28 acres of land.
He was making rounds of the circle office for the last two months for the work but the head assistant did not do it.
Finally, he filed a complaint in the ACB office. The ACB officials probed the matter and found the complaint genuine. On the direction of ACB, farmer Sanatan Hembram agreed to pay a bribe of Rs 2.80 lakh in instalments. As per the plan, he today (Saturday) reached Circle Office to pay the first instalment of Rs 15,000.
In three days, this is the second time ACB has arrested an official in Dhanbad. On Thursday an ASI of Mahila police station was arrested while taking a Rs 5,000 bribe.
