Dhanbad, Mar 3: The Dhanbad district administration has imposed the use of loudspeakers and sound amplifiers between 10 PM to 6 AM with immediate effect from Thursday evening till further order.

The Dhanbad sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Prem Kumar Tiwari in this regard issued an order on Thursday evening saying that the directive would be effective in the entire sub-divisional area of Dhanbad from 10 PM to 6 AM.

The district administration has also directed to officer-in-charge of all police stations, police Out Posts (OP), all circle officers (CO) and all block development officers (BDO) to ensure the implementation of directives in their respective areas and take legal action against violators of the order.

“For controlling noise pollution, Supreme Court, Delhi and Jharkhand High Courts have given directives from time to time. This order has also been issued as per Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000. The disabled level of sound pollution in the day and at night is already announced,” said SDM.

Prem Kumar Tiwari in his notice has also pointed out that industrial activities, firecrackers, sound-generating machines, generator sets, loudspeakers, public address systems, music systems and vehicle horns badly impact the health of people. So it needs complete control.

“Keeping this in mind use of loudspeakers and sound amplifiers has been banned,” he said.
