Dhanbad Bar poll: Election committee gets ready lunch for voters

Dhanbad, June 6: The Jharkhand State Bar Council appointed three-member election committee today issued guidelines for the candidates and members to ensure fair and peaceful voting of the Dhanbad Bar Association scheduled on June 8.

The committee members, including senior lawyers Devi Sharan Sinha, HC Mallick and Arun Kumar Tiwary jointly informed media persons that preparation for free and peaceful polling has been completed. Guidelines have been issued to candidates and voters so that no confusion appears during the polling. The polling would start at 8.30 am on June 8 and will continue till 4 pm.

The counting of votes would be started the next day (June 9) at 8.30 am.

A total of 89 candidates are in the fray for the 16 posts, including executive members. Three candidates  Amrendra Sahay ( outgoing president),  Radheyshyam Goswami ( former president) and Harish Joshi are in the race for the post of president while six candidates, Anil Kumar, Anjani Kumar Jha, Bish Kumar Dan, Dhirendra Brahmchary, Jitendra Kumar and Rajendra Gope are in the race for general secretary.

As per the guidelines, voters would be allowed in the polling room only in a lawyer’s dress with the proper identity card of the District Bar Association,  State Bar Council or Aadhar Card. The candidate too would not be allowed to stay in the voting room after casting his vote. Only his agent would be present there.

For the first time, the election committee has arranged lunch for the voters of the Bar Association and has imposed a ban on candidates for giving any food packet to voters during the poll.
