Dhanbad, April 8: Students of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) today, on Friday, held a massive demonstration, burnt effigy of principals and threatened to launch a stir if the registration mess of postgraduate students is not corrected.
Akhil Jharkhand Chhatra Sangh (AJCS), the student wing of AJSU while demonstrating alleged that due registration mess created by the principal of colleges and university heads of the departments several students are being denied from the First Semester of postgraduate (P-G) scheduled from April 19.
AJCS president Vishal Mahto said that students filled up all required papers at the time of P-G admission notwithstanding their registration was not done. “ There was no additional process required for registration but when students had gone to take registration number they were informed by college authorities that their registration had not been done,” said Vishal Mahto.
The student union leader pointed out that Semester-1 of P-G is scheduled from April 19. Online forms are still being filled but in a lack of registration numbers, several students are facing sheer hardship and making rounds of concerned institutions for correction so that they could appear in the examination.
The agitating students burnt an effigy of the RSP College principal for rebuking an M.Com student who had gone to take his registration number. Student union leader alleged that RSP College principal JN Singh stopped the registration of students saying that he had not submitted a hard copy of the admission receipt.
“University had not issued any guidelines for submitting a hard copy of the admission receipt. When the fee was submitted online, demanding a hard copy receipt is nothing but harassing the students. We have sent a written complaint to Vice-Chancellor Chancellor Mukul Narayan Dev Hazaribagh for justice as this would ruin the career of several students,” said the leader.
Mukul Narayan Dev is also holding additional charge of BBMKU Dhanbad vice-chancellor.
The student union has also demanded action against college and university authorities who created the mess.
Akash Mahto, Vikash Kumar, Bittu Mahto, Suraj Singh, Akshant Rawat, Shakti, Chirag Singh. Ravi Singh, Akash Singh, Binu Singh, Sonu Singh, Bachhu Singh, Nitesh Sharma Lallu, and Sachin Gope were among the prominent leaders leading the demonstration.
