Dhanbad, Feb 16: A 16-year-old girl student was pushed to death from the rooftop of a four–storey apartment allegedly by a boy in the Bhelatand area of the coal city under Barwadda police station.
The police official said the incident occurred in the Trinity Garden apartment at around 5.30 to 6 PM on Wednesday.
After getting the information, the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Amar Kumar Pandey and the Barbadda police station officer in charge reached the apartment and took the body in possession.
The girl, Sanghavi Thakur, was a class 12 student of Carmel School Dhanbad and the daughter of Chandan Thakur, a contractor by profession.
“police are investigating the incident,” said the deputy superintendent of police Amar Kumar Pandey, who is supervising the case.
The mother of the victim has filed an FIR against four suspected youths including two named accused living in the department. On basis of the FIR, police picked up two youths for interrogation at night.
Shivani Thakur, the mother of the victim told police that one boy in the apartment, who was senior to her daughter, was often seen talking with her.
She had scolded her daughter for not interacting with him. On Wednesday evening, the boy was seen along with his friend on the first floor of the apartment.
The Thakur family lives on the first floor of the apartment while the girl was pushed to death from the rooftop of the 4th floor.
On the rooftop, from where the girl was pushed, a chair was also found. The police official said who brought the chair there and how many people were present on the rooftop is being investigated.
Police are also collecting fingerprints from different spots including the lift of the apartment through which the girl had gone to the rooftop.
District Child Welfare Committee chairman Uttam Mukherjee said that the committee has taken cognizance of the incident and made comments after the spot inspection.
