Dhanbad, June 8: The Dhanbad unit of the Congress Party has strongly protested the hike in holding tax and urged the state government to withdraw the order in the interest of the general public.

Dhanbad Congress president Brajendra Prasad Singh said that government is not money earning machine.  The government is formed for the services of the people. The way holding tax has been increased, people of the state are harassed. They are internally perturbed by this decision.

“Hike in holding tax is an anti-people decision. The decree has been issued without the minding problems of the people. Congress has always stood with common people and this time too, the party will stand with them. So we urge the state government to review it and withdraw the order immediately,” he said.

The Congress district president said that the municipal corporation has increased the holding tax by 50 to 200% in residential as well as commercial areas which is unacceptable in the interest of the common man. “Municipal Corporation should withdraw it immediately,” said Singh.

The opposition from the Congress bench keeps significance as it is a partner of Hemant Soren led coalition state government. Earlier, Brajendra Prasad Singh had opened a front against the acute power crisis in Dhanbad and adjoining districts.
