Dhanbad, Feb 1: Dhanbad civil court today sentenced three persons to life imprisonment in a six years old Sanjay Sonkar murder case.
Public Prosecutor (PP) Virendra Kumar said that the court of district and session judge VI Sujit Kumar Singh sentenced life imprisonment to Vickky Dome, Suraj Verma and Neeraj Verma. They were also slapped with a fine of Rs 40,000 in connection of murder of Sanjay Sonkar alias Sanjay Khatik and keeping arms.
Sanjay Khatik was shot dead in the evening of February 6, 2016 at Kathgola area under Kenduadih. On a complaint of Kunal Sonkar, the eyewitness cum cousin of the deceased, the police had filed an FIR against the trio accused.
Kunal had complained that he along with Sanjay and Jitendra had gone to the Kathgola area under Kenduadih police station at around 8 p.m. when Suraj, Vickky and Neeraj, who were ambushed there, shot Sanjay dead.
PP Virendra Kumar said that during the six years long trial, 10 witnesses were cross-examined including Dr Shailendra Kumar who gave an injury report in the court.
Vickky and Suraj Verma were already in judicial custody while the third accused Neeraj Verma was on bail. However after the judgement, police took him into custody and sent him to jail.
