Dhanbad, Feb 9: A tyre shop owner was shot at by unidentified criminals in the Bagsuma area under Govindpur police station, around 13 km away from district headquarters in the wee hours of Thursday.

Govindpur police station officer-in-charge Umesh Prasad Singh told media persons that the incident occurred at around 3 am on Thursday. Thieves were breaking into the tyre shop of Arif Reja. When he challenged and raised an alarm, the unidentified criminals fired at him.

The injured tyre shop owner was immediately admitted to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH). The doctor of the medical college hospital said Arif Reja received a bullet injury in his waist and his condition was stable.

Family members of Arif Reja told that thieves were breaking the lock of the shop. As he raised an alarm, criminals fired on him and escaped.  Due to the dark, he could not identify them.
