Dhanbad, June 10: A few unidentified criminals made an ATM their target for the second time in a week in Dhanbad. However, this time they failed to achieve their ‘mission.’
On the late-night of June 9-10, the criminals tried to uproot the Axis Bank ATM kiosk in Janata Market Housing Colony under Sadar police station but failed to do so. After damaging the machine, the crooks fled away.
On getting the information in the morning, the Dhanbad Sadar police station officer-in-charge Vinay Kumar Singh reached the spot and began an investigation. He told media persons that criminals tried to draw money from the machine but could not succeed. Fearing police patrolling, they fled away.
“ We are searching the CCTV footage of different cameras of surrounding shops of the market and expect to arrest the criminals involved in it soon,” he said.
This is the second time in a week that criminals have attacked an ATM in Dhanbad. Earlier, on the night of June 4, criminals had uprooted the HDFC ATM kiosk at Topchanchi, around 40 km away from district headquarters. The police official said that criminals had carried away the ATM on Scorpio. Dismantled parts of the ATM were later found the next day near GT road under Bagodar police station of Giridih.
