Dhanbad, Jan 12: Sabitri Devi, wife of three times Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto has written to the President of India asking for the safety of her husband in jail.

Notably, the BJP MLA is presently lodged in Dhanbad divisional jail since January 9 in connection to a 13-year-old case of freeing a warrantee from police custody and assaulting senior police officers.

The controversial Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto is facing more than 42 cases in which he has been absolved from charges and in some cases, he has been held guilty.

Sabitri Devi while talking to media persons at the circuit house on Wednesday evening alleged that the joint front government of JMM and Congress has formed a conspiracy and is being hatched against her husband.

Under political vendetta, her husband and his supporters, have been harassed under the patronage of police for the last two years and are being trapped in false cases.

“Since he is in jail, there is an apprehension of an attack on him in judicial custody. So I have written a letter to the president of India for the safety of her husband and would soon meet the Prime minister in this regard,” said Sabitri Devi.

The MLA’s wife informed that she has also sent a copy of the letter to the Prime Minister, union home minister, union minister of state, union cabinet secretary, Governor of Jharkhand and chief justice of the Supreme Court and Jharkhand High Court.

Sabitri Devi alleged that state police made a search of her house without a search warrant and misbehaved with family members as if they are family members of terrorists.
